Home, Home on the Range
Where the deer and the antelope play… just apparently not long enough to get their picture taken.
I saw antelope.
You’ll have to trust me on that.
By the time I thought, Hey, that would make a great picture for the blog, they had already decided they had better things to do than hang around waiting for some guy on a gravel bike to dig out a camera.
So, no antelope pictures.
What I did get was plenty of gravel.

And out here, that’s not exactly a consolation prize.
There’s something about riding a bike across the open range that makes the miles feel different. Long gravel roads disappearing toward the horizon, big sky overhead, hardly anybody around, and every once in a while a reminder that you’re sharing the place with something considerably faster than you are.
The antelope won that race.

I kept riding.

Side Note: Though not an antelope, it is known colloquially in North America as the American antelope, prong buck, pronghorn antelope, and prairie antelope
