From a Parking Lot to a Mountain
A few days ago, the view from my office window was a parking lot in Ohio.

Today, it’s a mountain.
And honestly, that’s exactly why I built a rolling office.
There isn’t anything particularly glamorous about working from a parking lot. You make some coffee, open the laptop, fire up the second monitor, and get to work. Code doesn’t particularly care whether there’s a mountain outside the window or a row cars.
There are still meetings.
There are still bugs that make absolutely no sense.
There are still those magical moments when you change one tiny thing and somehow break three completely unrelated things.
Work is still work.
But then you close the laptop.
And that’s when the parking lot becomes part of the adventure.
You start driving west. Ohio disappears behind you. The landscape slowly changes. The horizon gets bigger. Eventually, those little bumps in the distance turn into actual mountains.
Then one morning you make coffee, sit down at the exact same desk, open the exact same laptop, and realize your office has a completely different view.
That’s the part I love.
Van life isn’t a permanent vacation. Some days aren’t exciting at all. Some days I’m parked somewhere completely forgettable because I have work to get done and decent internet matters more than scenery.
But those ordinary days make the extraordinary ones possible.
Someday is a parking lot.
Someday is a mountain.
Most days are probably somewhere in between.
And I’m perfectly happy with that.
I don’t need every day to be an adventure.

I just like knowing that when the workday is over, adventure might be right outside the door.
